Hi, I’m Gemma!

I’m a recently retired Ghanaian track and field Olympian. I create and curate content about daily habits and routines to build the life you want and finding gratitude and happiness in the everyday journey. I’m actively building a life filled with happiness, love, and perpetual growth.

I enjoy exploring cultures and flavors through food, working my way through my ever-growing ‘to read’ pile, hanging out with my friends and family, and relishing in good quotes that describe my thoughts and feelings in words that seem to always escape me.

Actively Gemma is a space where I inspire myself to try my best in whatever I do and hopefully, a bit of that inspiration rubs off on you.

  • “Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. tiptoe if you must, but take a step.”

    — Naeem Callaway

  • "For me, success is not a public thing. It's a private thing. It's when you have fewer and fewer regrets."

  • "Often the difference between a successful person and a failure is not one's better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on one's ideas, to take a calculated risk—and to act."

  • "Life is easier when you know what you want—but most people don't take the time to figure out what they want. It's not that we are completely lost, but our efforts are often slightly misdirected. People will work for years and ultimately achieve a lifestyle that isn't quite what they were hoping for—often, simply, because they never clearly defined what they wanted. An hour of thinking can save you a decade of work."
