Life Lately | September 2021

September seems to have flown by. It’s funny how certain moments and days seem to drag on, but suddenly you blink, and the whole month is gone. The month was a mix of old and new. I visited my mom and (with the help of professional organizers) helped her sort and donate a ton of stuff that had been piling up.

I also got a job offer from my alma mater, Boston University, and officially started working. This is my first full-time job and my first time working in an office. It feels like a significant step in the right direction. It feels surreal at times. Now and then, I feel the tendrils of Imposter Syndrome trying to take root, but so far, I’ve been able to shake it off by remembering all that I’ve done to get to this point and taking moments to myself to be grateful for the opportunity and make the most of it.

September was a month of slow days and new beginnings. Looking forward, I think October will be a month of reassessing old habits and creating new ones. My goal for this new month is to be on top of creating routines and systems that put me in the healthiest spaces physically and mentally. The days are getting shorter and chillier, and I can feel seasonal affective disorder seeping in with it. I think the routines I create now will play a big role in just how much SAD actually affects me this year, especially considering how new everything still is for me. It almost feels like I stepped back in time, working in a city and campus I called home for years. But this city has changed, the BU campus has changed, and I’ve changed. I’m looking to rediscover all three slowly but surely.

Posts You May Have Missed This Month

I bought…

This sheet bundle from Brooklinen. I’m an avid YouTube watcher, and every now and then, a company will come and sponsor a ton of people at once. Most recently, it’s been Brooklinen. It can usually be slightly annoying to see the same thing promoted across multiple channels I watch in a row, but this time I was thankful as I needed a “core” bedding set for our room.

The newest flavor of Verb Energy bars. As an existing customer, I get first dibs (and first showings) of new flavors. I couldn’t resist giving this one a try.

A few Kotn staples to add to my new workplace outfit rotation. Here’s a link to get 10% off your first two purchases if anything catches your eye.*

I Read…

Free Food For Millionaires by Min Jin Lee. As someone who loved Pachinko, reading this felt like visiting somewhere familiar while living through entirely new stories. Highly recommend.

*Disclaimer: I’ll receive 20% off my next Kotn order if/when you make your first purchase with this link.
