Life Lately: November 2019
This month seemed to both drag and fly by at the same time. I’m still trying to settle back into my routine. Everything just feels so...different. It’s hard to explain, but some days I almost feel like I’m already reminiscing about the moments I’m still living. That’s definitely gibberish, but I did say it was hard to explain.
I think my mentality is shifting. Every day I read a page from this book on Stoicism and I feel like it’s changing how I interact with and understand the world around me. I think I’ve always been inclined towards Stoicism without even realizing it. Most of the time, I find myself completely understanding the points that are being made by the Stoics or just being very intrigued by this different way of thinking. I think I’m going to write a full, separate blog post about it eventually, so stay tuned for that if you’re interested.
Speaking of blog posts, I’m trying to be better about them (again). I’ve come to terms with my inconsistency, but at least I keep coming back with vigor. That’s gotta mean something, right? If you haven’t already, you can find my latest blog post on the meaning of self-discipline as a professional athlete here.
I’m also trying to get back into vlogging! Hopefully, there will be one out this week. I forgot just how tedious it is to go through and edit everything, but I’m going to buckle down and just do it. I feel very inspired at the moment and I want to capitalize on that while I can.
Track - practice and routines
December means getting back to regular programming on the track. November was a month of transition and December will be one to get some work in. I want need to be competing in January, which means it’s time for things to ramp up. The indoor season comes fast and leaves just as quick.
I’d really like to make the World Indoor Championships team this year, which means I’ll need to run at least a 7.20 for the 60m. I’d also love to get that Olympic 200m standard indoor if I can. It would be a huge relief to get it before the outdoor season, so that’s another goal I’m striving towards.
Writing this has gotten me a bit excited. 2019 has been full of highs and low and I want to end the year going out strong.
Other Monthly Favorites
Watching
Bon Appétit’s YouTube channel. I started with the Gourmet Makes series and just got lost in the whole channel. I love the people that work there and the wholesome and funny rapport they have. They genuinely bring a smile to my face and all the delicious food they make is a huge bonus.
I also binge-watched cup of jasmien’s videos. She goes to art school in New York City and it’s just so interesting to watch her day to day life unfold. Her videos are so calming and oddly motivating. I know some people think vlogs are weird, but I love being able to watch someone’s vlogs and see how they’ve evolved throughout their channel. Someday, I’d love to look back on my own videos and see how I’ve grown.
National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1 on Netflix. This movie was absurd and hilarious and just...everything. I watched it with my housemates and we spent the whole time dying of laughter. Highly recommend for any day or night you need a good laugh.
Rick and Morty is back! It’s a return to a form that was barely ever lost, in my opinion.

Listening
I’m one of those people that plays the hell out of one song until I get sick of it, so my monthly listens are usually pretty short. On repeat this month:
Zedd - Good Thing (with Kehlani)
sakehands - PLASTIC (feat. Good Intent)
LEE HI - NO ONE (feat. B.I of iKON)
Chris Brown - Juice
Drake - Mob Ties
Koffee - W (feat. Gunna)
